About Us

The majority of us want to do something to help the environment - no matter how big or small. But because ‘changing the environment’ is such an overwhelming task, the question is: Where do we start, and realistically what can we do?

This is where Green Focus comes in. Green Focus provides online information to the people who want to educate themselves on ways to save the environment. We provide practical, usable information and tips that you can easily incorporate into your daily routines. At the same time, we show you how being environmentally friendly can save you money, improve your health and generally make you feel good.

We believe that environmental awareness doesn’t need to be all doom and gloom, and that you don’t need to be an environmental scientist to be educated or play your part.

Green Focus provides facts, studies and videos to help you learn about environmental issues. We have created an online community forum where you can meet and connect with like-minded people, and learn what you can do.

Our goal is to be the ‘go to’ place for anyone searching for practical and usable environmental information.

But because ‘saving the planet’ is such an overwhelming task, the question is, where do we start, and realistically what can we do? This was the main reason we created GreenFocus.com. We don’t think environmental awareness needs to be all doom and gloom, or that you need to be an environmental scientist to play your role. By having a ‘go to’ place for usable environmental information, we can all do our part.”

As well as offering practical tips, GreenFocus.com provides facts, articles, and videos to help you learn about environmental issues. It has an online community with discussion forums where you can meet and connect with like-minded people, and learn more about what you can do.

Behind the Scenes

Gabriel Heskin
Founder and Operations Manager

Gabriel started his career in 1999 working as general manager for an online start-up company. Over the past eight years, Gabriel has honed his skills in online technology, operations and process development - all of which were crucial for the development and success of Green Focus, his latest venture.

"My goal for Green Focus is to help people take action. With the environment and ‘green’ issues taking such a focus right now, I believe that most people want to do something, but like me they find themselves asking, “What can I do?” With Green Focus, I wanted to create a place that was fun, interactive and informative. GreenFocus.com is aimed at businesses as well as the general public, it allows you to connect with likeminded people and helps you save money.”

Gabriel brings a great deal of experience to Green Focus and more importantly passion and commitment to help everyone – businesses and the general public – have fun, save money and play a role in protecting the environment.

Gabriel studied at York University, where he specialized in business and statistics.

Jeff Petersen
Content Manager

A scientist in the making, Jeff brings a tremendous amount of knowledge on environmental issues to Green Focus. Studying at the University of Toronto, Jeff is currently completing an Honours Bachelors of Science degree with a double major in Chemistry and Environment & Science. “The environment incorporates every aspect of the sciences - if we understand these issues we can make the right choices for our environment.  Right now, there is so much emphasis on going green with technology and policy, but there is no bridge to bring the real environmental issues and solutions to real people.

To me, that is what Green Focus is all about. Rather than preach a doom and gloom story of the environment, we want to explain environmental issues in everyday language and offer the general public tips and ideas that they can incorporate into their daily lives to make a difference.”

As part of his studies, Jeff produced a paper exploring the sustainability of the University of Toronto.
